Why Squirrels Are So Much Wiser Than the Rest

Have you ever noticed how some animals are joyful and run and play while others hunt for their daily prey?

Have you ever wondered why some are careless and some are sly? Why when they rest and take a break others still must skate?

It’s because they plan. And who plans better than the Squirrel?

Watch squirrels and you’ll see that they forge and they store, putting away little bits at a time for later in the season and lots for later when the snow covers the ground and food is harder to find.

A squirrel will hide a bit here, and a bit there, and maybe been a bit way over there. But the squirrel does not wait for the winter. Nor does the squirrel wait until food supplies are bare and baron. The squirrel puts away what it knows it will need for later when it’s hungry and cold.

But the other animals are not as wise. The other animals waste and squander their resources never thinking of the time when they may be in need of food after this moment.

For example, take the tiger. As brave and savvy as she is; and as good care she takes of her den of young ones, tigers do not plan. They live high on the hog, while there is still a hog to devour, but as soon as it consumes all, the tiger is once again on the prowl. It’s always wondering where is its next meal?

People are much the same way in the ways they financially plan. Are you a squirrel? Are you a tiger? Or are you a different kind of animal all together?

Perhaps you’re a beaver?

Beavers are very smart, you know. They know how to build and structure and make things work so that when they need a system, like a dam, or a bridge, they’re set. Beavers are team players who get other beavers to help them build what they need to have. But beavers only know dams. They don’t know any other kind of protection.

Maybe you’re a beaver who needs a protection for your family. You’d probably look into an IUL or Indexed Universal Life Policy?

With an IUL you can invest your hard work and pool it with your other investments, to generate ongoing residual income, or to simultaneously build a life benefit and death benefit? It’s like having a dam, a lean-tu, and a yurt all at the same time. Then no weather can upset you.

You may even plan for the inevitable when your pelt becomes brittle and you can no longer chew on the logs like when you were young.

Maybe an annuity is right for you? After all, an annuity works like a beaver thinks. Plop down a hunk of deposit now and live off the gifts it generates for many years to come.

But if you’re a rat who never saves, never plans, and never sacrifices, then you can expect to run from hole to hole and live on scraps and discomfort when you should be feasting on the fruits of your labor. Then again, there are packrats who save, but they are more focused on collecting clutter and junk and not in building value and assets.

The beauty about financial well being is that you can go from being a rat to a beaver at any time. Or you can start saving like a squirrel even if you’re an old bird. It’s only too late when you can no longer build your own dam, save your own chestnuts, or drag a piece of pizza across New York’s subway system like Pizza Rat.
